Just the other day I went with my shih tzus to the veterinary doctor for a parvo injection. Both George and Eve are similar in weight there is only a difference of 3 pounds, George weighs 14 pounds and Eve 17 lbs. What perplexes me is that they get so charged up departing to see their veteran, they care for each one fawning all over them. George visited the vet at the beginning then Eve.
George was the first in and barked on his way out after the vet examined him, he was the most happy dog in the world. Nowadays, Eve started to vomit until all contents were out of her stomach. Our shih tzu was so ill she couldnt displace not even an inch. We waited there to see if she would arise and be fine. It went from bad to worse, she lost control of her bowl, and didn't seem to be able to concentrate on anything.
The vet quickly reacted with a steroid injections for our shitzu. Only time would enlighten whether this would have the desired outcome on the vaccination she had been given. The rate of her breathing was jumbled sometimes it was fast sometimes it was slow. We hurried her to a specialty infirmary where she was admitted in serious state There was only so much John could do so we fetch her to a special hospital for pets. That afternoon and night was touch and go.
The hospital put her on a drip that night. No one thought our shih tzu dog would be with us much longer. Tender loving care as well as the hospital drugs were her contant diet for four days whilst there. This reaction to the injection caused her to go into shock, along with puffiness and bleeding in her stomach and intestines. But, my little girl came through this, amazingly. She is recuperating at home.
Whilst recovering she appears to spend a lot of time drinking water and dozing off whilst she recovers each day. I think she will come to a full recovery step by step. It is marvelous how much I now know about these injections that are given to dogs, I spend a huge amount of time exploring the on the cyberspace.
The shih tsu breed are most effected by these types of injections actually and it is not that strange .And I will be working to get "full disclosure" for people that take their pets to get immunized. It really cost us a lot of bucks we could ill afford to spend however we would do anything for our dog.I dont suggest anybody goes through this like we had to.
